From jpeterson at western.edu Thu May 15 11:08:37 2008 From: jpeterson at western.edu (John Peterson) Date: Thu May 15 10:10:57 2008 Subject: [Gunnison-boaters] Tonight at Timbers: Hotel Charley 3, the Lost World Message-ID: Gunnison Premier- Hotel Charley 3, the Lost World Kick off and get pumped up for the river running season with an epic movie about expeditionary kayaking around the world. Hotel Charley 3: The Lost World is the newest movie by the film making and river running duo Ben Stooksberry and Jesse Coombs of Clear H2O films and will be shown at Timbers Cantina on Thursday, May 15 starting at 6:30 pm. Gunnison is the sixteenth stop on the film's very exclusive 24 city tour. We are very privileged to be on their list and the film makers themselves will be here to introduce the film and be available for a question and answer session after the showing. Last year, Clear H2O Films was a finalist in National Geographic's Adventure Film Makers of the Year and this year's film is just as worthy of such an accolade. The meat of the feature length film features first descents of wild, free flowing rivers from the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland, the extremely remote Twang Region of India, and a descent down the soon to be dammed inner gorge of Brazil's longest river, the Rio San Fransisco. The adventure paddlers in this film are in search of this proverbial Lost World that exists in the world's last unseen gorges. Along with Jesse and Ben is a cast of characters that is as diverse as the locations in the film. The film highlights the adventures from the ultra talented paddlers of Team Jackson including Eric Jackson, Dane Jackson, Nick Troutman, Joel Kowolski, Chris Korbulic, and Darin McQuoid pushing the envelope in road-less Northern Newfoundland; to the stories of Indian/ Nepally Kayaker Lama Kundan in the farthest off corner of India situated between China and Bhutan. The Gunnison Premier of HC3 will be at 6:30pm Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Timber's Cantina. All ages are welcome. There will be a $5 admission, cash bar, and a spectacular raffle with a grand prize of a new Jackson Rocker Kayak (one of the highest acclaimed creek boats on the market today). Other raffle items include kayak DVDs, spray tops from Kokatat, Smith Optics and more. All proceeds will go to the Gunnison Valley Paddle Club and the Gunnison River Festival (gunnisonriverfestival.com).
